Victory for Kountze Cheerleaders
Liberty Institute and Beaumont attorney David Starnes secured a temporary injunction for the Kountze ISD cheerleaders, allowing them to continue displaying their student-made banners with religious messages for the duration of the football season.
And, although this was a huge step in securing a win for religious freedom, the fight will continue as we work to make this temporary injunction a permanent decision in a trial set for June 24, 2013.
No student should ever have to leave his or her religious expression at the schoolhouse gate. Thanks to this victory the bullying tactics will stop and an entire school district can exercise free speech without government censorship.
Please pray for the cheerleaders and their families as they boldly stand for their First Amendment rights, and pray for our staff and attorneys as we continue our work in this critical case.
We also ask that you share this information with your family and friends and continue to spread the word about this inspiring group of young students.
Your financial support is also appreciated. Every gift, small or large, will enable Liberty Institute to continue to protect the religious rights of not only the Kountze cheerleaders, but also other public school students across America facing religious discrimination.
Thank you for your continued support.
