Writer

Responsible for using the written word to express ideas or tell a story. Create content using various multimedia formats that can be read, listened to, or viewed onscreen.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Enjoys working collaboratively within the office and across the network
  • Develop scripted material for the Web and other communication devices.
  • Conduct extensive research on various topics.
  • Write outlines and rough drafts.
  • Edit content for correct spelling and grammar.
  • Work with editors to revise and rewrite sections.
  • Perform extensive fact-checking.
  • Arrange material in chapters or parts.
  • Use desktop or electronic publishing software.
  • Maintain blogs to keep in touch with fans and readers.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Creative writing jobs have a variety of personal and educational requirements.
  • Writers must have a vivid imagination and be able to handle criticism and rejection.
  • They must be able to work independently and have the ability to promote themselves and their work.
  • Creative writers require originality, determination and discipline.

Videographer

The videographer is responsible for ongoing management of all Liberty Institutes photography and video assets, as well as, storage and adherence of all media to standards that align with business and mission strategies.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Videotapes and edits program material for the various cases, updates, events and onsite materials for legal case development and public information dissemination.
  • Collaborates with legal team and marketing department on visual requirements of the production(s).
  • Videotapes program material for production using video camera equipment; makes technical and creative decisions regarding such elements as appropriate lighting, shooting angle, placement and type of microphone audio needs, locations, use of movement and interviews.
  • Edits and assembles final visual/audio program material; ensures consistency and relevancy to production; monitors technical quality of end product.
  • Collaborates with a legal team regarding preconceived ideas and physical realities of production setting and participates in program's visual development in conjunction with a marketing.
  • Tests all equipment to determine technical quality of recording, audio and lighting apparatus prior to operation in the field.
  • Oversees the security, operation and maintenance of equipment utilized in shooting and editing.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • General knowledge of television broadcasting rules and regulations.
  • Field Production - knowledge of field production techniques and standards.
  • Creative ability - skill in visualizing and shooting concepts effectively.
  • Ability to effectively edit photo and video materials – ability to process captured imagery into appropriate formats for all distribution channels.
  • Strong working knowledge of editing software - Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere, and After Effects.
  • Extensive understanding of various formats and size specifications for all playable media devices.
  • Applicants interested will be required to maintain a flexible work schedule in order to accommodate evening/weekend shifts and travel to on-site locations for taping.

Social Media Specialist

The Social Media Specialist is responsible for the ongoing management and growth of Liberty Institute’s social media presence in alignment with business strategies and direction.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop marketing and communications plans that leverage the social media space.
  • Responsible for developing content across owned and earned social channels. This could include blog posts, tweets, status updates, pins, photos and videos. 
  • Creates, manages and grows business presence across social media channels, including, but not limited to blogs, Twitter, Facebook, Vine, G+, Pinterest, LinkedIn, youTube and Instagram.
  • Leverages measurement tools to provide progress reports and mine insights, while continually finding ways to improve on those metrics through testing and new initiatives

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Working knowledge and real-world experience in planning, managing and executing social media initiatives.
  • Real-word experience planning social media programs that span owned (eg Blogs), earned (eg Facebook) and paid (sponsored tweets).
  • Knowledge of digital marketing current best practices and understanding of digital production processes. 
  • Knowledge of social media legal guidelines, including, but not limited to WOMMA and “pay-per-post”.
  • Knowledge of Strategic planning and processes for brand management and creative development, including research tools and evaluation of results, especially as related to "Integrated Communication Planning". 
  • Knowledge of media strategy and planning options and the media role in integrated communication. 
  • Strong negotiation skills as both a strategic advisor and direct negotiator for a broad variety of Interactive services.

  • Experience with leveraging social media management and analytics tools, including, HootSuite, and Google Analytics.

Multimedia Designer

The Multimedia Designer is responsible for the ongoing management of Liberty Institute’s visual content needs in alignment with business strategies and direction.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Works as part of a creative team to concept, design, develop, and execute multimedia marketing and image campaigns (print, video, web) to extend and effectively communicate the Liberty Institute mission.
  • Conceptualizes, designs, and executes print & multimedia advertising and collateral campaigns for effective promotion of brand image and programmatic marketing initiatives.
  • Conceptualizes, designs, and lays out web pages and electronic-based marketing communications and translates print messaging concepts to the web.
  • Identifies, defines and executes designs in appropriate format and media to best deliver message and reach specific audiences in various channels.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Proficiency with pre-press, file configuration, and graphic vendor supervision
  • Ability to effectively translate print concepts to the web
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Proficiency with design on a Macintosh platform with knowledge of PC environments for cross-platform testing and compatibility

Development Assistant

The ideal candidate will be experienced in handling a wide range of administrative and department support related tasks and will be able to work independently with little or no supervision. This person must be exceedingly well organized, flexible and enjoy the administrative challenges of supporting a small office of diverse people and programs.

The ability to interact with staff (at all levels) in a fast paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality is crucial to this role. Expert level written and verbal communication skills, strong decision making ability and attention to detail are equally important.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Support experience in a professional services, sales or marketing environment
  • Experience successfully creating and/or modifying processes
  • Be responsible for calendar management, requiring interaction with both internal and external executives and assistants, as well as consultants, to coordinate a variety of complex executive meetings
  • Answer phones and direct all incoming calls to appropriate party promptly and efficiently
  • Communicate and handle incoming and outgoing electronic communications on behalf of the team
  • Assist team with preparation of presentation materials
  • Review and summarize miscellaneous reports and documents; prepare background documents and outgoing mail as necessary
  • Assist in pipeline/forecast preparation and management

Summer and Fall Internship Opportunities

Position
Our goal is to change the hearts and minds of the nation so that no one would dream of denying another person’s religious liberty. We are looking to build a small team of three interns to work together with our constitutional legal experts to develop social media content, short videos, and educational resources. The content should educate, capture the attention of a younger generation, and motivate them to share.

This is an unpaid internship located in Plano Texas, a suburb of Dallas. We can provide housing if needed. We will also work with your University to arrange college credit. All content created will become the property of Liberty Institute but your work will be credited if used in publications.

Desired Skill/Interests

  • Passionate about defending constitutional religious liberties. A desire to change your generation to ensure freedom of religion is preserved for future generations.
  • Experience with graphic art software. Creative. Enjoy creating edgy art targeted at demographics under 25.
  • Experience creating social media graphics, video etc (meme, gif, vines, pinterest, facebook, buzzfeed). Capacity to use humor to get across serious messages.
  • Gifted writer/storyteller who can motivate people to act or think more deeply. Creative short copywriter.  Have a large social media presence or blog following.
  • Have studied social media movements, social media advertising, or strategies.
  • Classroom or other experience with video production.

Who are we?
Liberty Institute is a 501c3 non-profit headquartered in Plano Texas (northern suburb of Dallas). We are the largest law firm in the nation solely dedicated to preserving religious liberties. We represent hundreds of cases a year where people have had their religious liberties denied in schools, the public square, or the military- and we win. We have a win rate of 99%. We are starting an educational campaign to make people aware of their constitutional religious liberties.
